Grammy's Make it Official

(Raleigh) - Feb. 16 - Music makers on the rise are making the Red Hat Amphitheater a regular stop.  Young gun Grammy faves Mumford & Sons, Wiz Khalifa, the Decemberists, the Fleet Foxes, Vampire Weekend and this year’s Best New Artist Bon Iver have all blazed through memorable shows under the Cree Shimmer Wall.

At the same time, the amphitheater continues to draw from the other side of the spectrum: music legends such as The Beach Boys (surfing in on April 29).

“In just two years we’ve had the privilege of treating area music lovers to shows from music’s most promising new acts in an urban, outdoor venue that’s unlike any other around,” says Taylor Traversari of the Raleigh Convention Center.  “The music mix -- from up and comers to seasoned vets -- complements the mix of restaurants and hot spots that surround the amphitheater.  And if some of our acts come in hoisting Grammys, all the better!”

After only 49 shows, the 5,990-seat Downtown Red Hat Amphitheater has made a huge impression on not only tens of thousands of fans, but also on the live music industry. The venue was recently nominated for the “2011 Concert Industry Award for Best New Major Concert Venue” bestowed by Pollstar, the only trade publication covering the worldwide concert industry.
